On February 28, 1944 Corrie woke with the flu. For two days she had been suffering with it. A man was at the door. The man said that his wife had been arrested for hiding Jews and he needed money to bribe the police for his wifes release. Corrie was so sick that she gave him the money just to get rid of him. She went back to bed, but not for long. A few minutes later through the fog of her feverish sleep she seemed to hear a buzzer(Christian History Institute). The Jews wee rushing past her bolting for the secret room. Corrie had realized that it was the emergency buzzer and she new that this was not a drill. Her family had been betrayed. Corrie shut the sliding door after the Jews were in. the Gestapo asked the girls where they were hiding the Jews, but the girls would not speak. because they did not speak they were taken to various prisons.(Christian History Institute)
