Corrie was born on April 15, 1892 in Amsterdam, Holland. Corrie was short for Cornelia. Corrie was the youngest of four children. She had two sisters: Betsie and Nollie. She had one brother named Willem. Cornelia was named after her mother Cornelia, her fathers name was Casper. Her father was a watchmaker, he was raised in a Dutch Reformed church, and he was well schooled. Both of her parents lived into adulthood. in 1892 Corrie and her family moved to Beje in Haarlem.
